Dr. phil. Wolfgang Zumdick
Geboren 1957 in Lippstadt/Westfalen. Autor, Philosoph, Kurator und Spezialist für Soziale Skulptur und das Werk von Joseph Beuys. Kurator zahlreicher Ausstellungen zu Joseph Beuys und zur Sozialen Plastik. Autor von internationalen Publikationen zur Geschichte der Philosophie sowie zur Kunst und Philosophie des 20. Jahrhunderts. Von 2008 bis 2019 Lehrtätigkeit an der Oxford Brookes University sowie Gastdozent an den Universitäten Basel und Melbourne (RMIT). Zuletzt war er 2021 als Gastkurator der Ausstellung Intuition! Dimensionen des Frühwerks von Joseph Beuys im Museum Kurhaus Kleve tätig.
Auszeichnungen, Mitgliedschaften und Förderungen
Von 1991- 1993 Promotionsstipendiat des Evangelischen Studienwerkes Haus Villigst. Zusammen mit dem kalifornischen Konzeptkünstler Allen Ruppersberg und der Büchner-Preisträgerin Felicitas Hoppe erster Stipendiat der internationalen Kulturstiftung Laurenz-Haus, Basel (1996-1998). Mitglied der Jury des Joseph Beuys Preises für Forschung (Museum Schloss Moyland, Land NRW[2014, 2019, 2022]), Jury-Vorsitzender des SSC Social Sculpture Award 2019. Vertrauensdozent der Heinrich Böll-Stiftung sowie wissenschaftlicher Beirat des Europahauses Burgenland, Eisenstadt (AU). Mitbegründer und Berater des Joseph Beuys Cafe Melbourne, Australien. Stellvertretendes Mitglied der Medienkommission der Landesanstalt für Medien (LfM) NRW.
Dr. Wolfgang Zumdick is an international author, philosopher, curator, and a specialist in social sculpture and the work of Joseph Beuys. He held a scholarship at the Laurenz Haus Foundation in Basel and has curated several Joseph Beuys and social-sculpture exhibitions. He is the author of numerous publications on the history of philosophy and twentieth-century art and philosophy, with a focus on Joseph Beuys and the philosophy of imagination. From 2008 until 2019 he lectured at Oxford Brookes University at Oxford, and has been a guest lecturer at numerous universities worldwide. Recently (2021) guest-curator of the exhibition Intuition! dimensions of the early work of Joseph Beuys, 1946-1961 at the Kurhaus-Museum, Kleve.
